Verdite
Verdite is the hardest stone worked in Zimbabwe and is also probably one of the most intrigueing.
It has so many variations to its colour and texture it would be impossible to paint you a true picture of its beauty.
My husband and I are always in awe of this stone and its ever changing colours. The colours vary from vivid grass green to dark green and brown, it will often have flecks of yellow, pink, mauve and even turquiose. As I mentioned earlier, no description or photograph will ever show a true representation of its unique and beautiful characteristics.
There is not a lot of sculpture available in verdite. It is an incredibly hard stone to work, and is only for the very skilled artists of Zimbabwe, this means it is often expensive to buy.
