Stone
Our stone sculptures are made of various Zimbabwean types - including serpentine, cobalt, opal, verdite, springstone, fruit serpentine and African jade. We deal with several hundred artists and the more experienced of them tend to work in harder stones and with larger sculptures. The newer artists will often start their apprenticeships working in softer stones creating smaller works, then progressing to larger and harder stones.
Metal
The metal sculptures are made from reclaimed oil drums by artists at Birdwoods gallery in Zimbabwe. Renowned as some of the finest metal sculptors in the country they produce a variety of animal sculptures - from small robins to larger herons and other birds. We also stock full size giraffes and pigs.
We have commissioned a limited edition of 500 pairs of bronzed pheasants by Shadreck Manasawana at Birdwoods. They are individually numbered, have Matombo copper rings and personal certificates. They cost £230 plus £14.50 p&p.
